4 Fitness Franchisees To Watch
With India's rising commercial fitness market that is projected to grow from INR 16,200 crore to INR 37,700 crore by 2030, fitness centres around the globe are increasingly moving beyond the traditional model to organised, franchise-led models.

India's fitness market is undergoing a significant transformation, evolving from a largely unorganized gym industry into a broader wellness ecosystem.

According to the 2025 India Fitness Market Report by Deloitte India and the Health & Fitness Association, India's commercial fitness market is projected to grow from INR 16,200 crore to INR 37,700 crore by 2030, representing an approximately 15% CAGR.

This segment is rising due to rising health awareness in India where Indian people are increasingly viewing fitness as preventive healthcare rather than mere lifestyle activity. Consumers are increasingly investing in fitness and wellness activities undertaking premium memberships, personal trainers, specialised classes and wellness services.

Technological Integration in Fitness Regimes

Wearables, fitness apps, AI-powered training, digital memberships and hybrid fitness models are changing the customer experience in the segment. From wearable devices and fitness-tracking apps to AI-powered training programmes and virtual coaching, technology has become an integral part of the modern fitness regime.Consumers are using smartwatches and fitness trackers to monitor steps, heart rate, calories, sleep patterns and workout performance, while digital platforms provide personalised exercise plans, nutrition guidance and real-time progress tracking. Artificial intelligence is further enabling customised workout recommendations based on individual fitness levels, goals and behavioural patterns.

Hybrid Fitness Model in India

Hybrid fitness is emerging as an important trend in India's evolving fitness industry, combining physical fitness centres with digital platforms and at-home workout solutions. Rather than choosing between offline and online fitness, consumers are increasingly using both depending on their schedules, convenience and fitness goals.

The model gained significant momentum during the pandemic, when digital workouts, virtual trainers and fitness applications became popular. While consumers have largely returned to gyms and fitness studios, digital fitness has continued to complement offline workouts.

Multi-Format Fitness Regimes

Fitness centres in India are increasingly moving beyond the traditional model centred around one activity to multiple formats like Gyming combining with Zumba, Yoga, Pilates, Martial Arts, Kickboxing, Indoor cycling, etc. -, attract a wider consumer base who are looking for different engagement and holistic wellness. Fitness enthusiasts are increasingly looking for a more balanced fitness regime that combines strength, flexibility, endurance, mobility and mental well-being. This has pushed the fitness centres to move from conventional regime to multi-format fitness regime, providing greater-variety and flexibility in their workout routines.

Here are 4 Fitness Franchisees to watch that are attracting the attention of fitness enthusiasts all over the world.

1.Cult.fit

Cult.fit, originally known as Cure.fit is India's health and fitness brand. Headquartered in Bengaluru, it was launched in 2016 by entrepreneurs Mukesh Bansal and Ankit Nagori to make fitness fun, easy, and accessible through an integrated online-offline business mode. The brand aims to provide a healthy mix of workouts not only to enhance endurance but also inspire a lasting lifestyle change. The brand believes in the philosophy of ‘cross training’, that is, mixing up different forms of workout throughout the training week that include combat sports, zumba and yoga.

As of 2026, the brand has 708 fitness centres across 77 cities. Apart from physical fitness centers, Cult.fit operates a dedicated retail arm for apparel and equipment called Cultsport, having 29 exclusive brand outlets (EBOs) operational across Bengaluru, Delhi, Hyderabad, Lucknow, and Pune, with plans to scale past 50 stores.

Talking about the fitness regime, Naresh Krishnaswamy, Chief Executive Officer, Curefit, said, ''We tend to think of fitness as a matter of personal choice. But what if it has less to do with choice, and more to do with how our days unfold? Over time, especially in urban India, daily routines have been re-engineered for convenience. Work is largely desk-bound, commutes are longer but increasingly passive, and even routine tasks like buying groceries no longer require stepping out....A study by The Lancet Group found that nearly half of Indian adults are insufficiently active, with projections suggesting this could rise to 60% by 2030.

Discussing about the solution, he says, ''Fitness centres can help build focus and routine, but they work best when they complement an already active day, not when movement is limited to a single hour of structured exercise. Workplaces can enable this reality by creating dedicated spaces for activity, such as recreation areas or small setups for quick games or stretching.....But these initiatives need to be supported by a broader ecosystem that makes movement easier to adopt and maintain. This includes improved access to fitness facilities, company-led initiatives like step challenges or guided sessions, and making quality equipment and everyday gear easily available through different touchpoints. When movement is intentionally coded into everyday life like this, and not treated as an afterthought, staying active becomes the default.''

The brand has over 225 studios opened globally and yet to make its entry in India.
