Abate Eye Hospital Expands Eye Care Hospital Franchise in India With FOCO Model
Abate Eye Hospital Expands Eye Care Hospital Franchise in India With FOCO Model
Abate Eye Hospital is expanding its healthcare network through an FOCO franchise model, offering three hospital formats with investments ranging from ₹4.4 crore to ₹13.45 crore and plans to expand across Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.

Abate Eye Hospital Enters the Eye Care Franchise Market

Abate Eye Hospital is expanding its presence through an eye care hospital franchise in India, bringing its three-decade healthcare journey into a franchise-led growth model. Established in Kerala in 2001, the brand has developed a super-specialty eye care network covering four operational centres across Kerala and Chennai.

During the webinar, the brand highlighted more than 10 lakh patients, 2 lakh completed surgeries, 25+ consultants and a 4.9 Google rating. Its clinical offering spans cataract surgery, retina, glaucoma, cornea and refractive care, paediatric ophthalmology, oculoplasty, neuro-ophthalmology and vision therapy.

A Super-Specialty Healthcare Franchise Opportunity in India

The proposed model follows a FOCO structure, or Franchise Owned Company Operated model. Under this structure, the franchise partner invests in the facility and associated assets, while Abate manages clinical and day-to-day operations, staffing, procurement, quality, technology and marketing. The agreement term presented during the webinar is 10 years, with renewal by mutual consent.

This structure positions Abate among healthcare franchise options for investors looking to participate in a specialised healthcare business without directly managing hospital operations.

Three Eye Care Franchise Formats

Abate has presented three formats based on facility size and investment capacity. The Compact format requires 6,400 sq. ft. with a stated capital investment of ₹4.4 crore. The Standard format covers 12,000 sq. ft. with ₹9 crore capital investment, while the Flagship format requires 16,000 sq. ft. and ₹13.45 crore capital investment.

The presentation also outlines a 7% revenue share and 50% share of PAT across the three formats. Brand-presented projections show IRRs of 26%, 38% and 44%, with projected payback periods of 47, 35 and 30 months respectively. These figures are business projections presented during the webinar and should not be treated as guaranteed returns.

Expansion Across Kerala and South India

The expansion roadmap begins with Kerala, targeting cities including Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram and Thrissur, before moving into Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. The longer-term plan also includes strengthening medical-tourism corridors serving domestic and international patients.

For consumers, the network's focus is on specialised eye care, modern ophthalmic technology and multiple treatment verticals. For investors researching an eye clinic, best eye hospital or super-specialty healthcare franchise opportunity, the Abate model offers a combination of established clinical infrastructure and company-managed operations.
