Citara, the entertainment company co-founded by filmmaker Tutu Sharma and entrepreneur Rahul Nehra, is expanding its footprint to Gujarat with upcoming centres in Jamnagar and Rajkot. The move marks the brand’s debut in the state and aligns with its broader plan to strengthen its presence across India’s fast-growing regional markets.
Designed as a cinema-themed entertainment space, Citara focuses on Tier II, III, and IV cities with small-capacity, tech-enabled theatres that offer a multiplex-like viewing experience at affordable pricing. The concept blends premium movie screenings with lifestyle and entertainment offerings, positioning Citara as a community-centric destination aimed at enhancing entertainment accessibility in smaller cities.
The new Gujarat venues will showcase Citara’s integrated entertainment model, bringing diverse content experiences together under one roof. The programming slate will feature first-day-first-show movie releases, stand-up comedy, children’s films, short-format content, curated classic film showcases, musical performances, and digital-first creator formats, including reels and influencer-led content. The intent is to create a single destination catering to evolving audience preferences and emerging creative talent.
The company shared that this expansion addresses rising demand for experiential and community-driven entertainment beyond traditional cinema formats. Citara aims to build venues where films, live performances, and digital creator content coexist, supported by premium infrastructure and technology-led presentation.
Commenting on the development, co-founder Tutu Sharma highlighted Gujarat as a key entertainment market with strong engagement across cinema, comedy, and live shows. Managing Director Rahul Nehra added that Jamnagar and Rajkot were chosen for their cultural vibrancy and potential to support scalable entertainment experiences.
Citara further noted that the Gujarat launch is part of its strategy to build a wider national network across important regional hubs. The company expects the upcoming destinations to boost entertainment accessibility while also fostering local talent by offering a unified platform for multiple entertainment formats.
